Today was our Year 6 Spelling Bee! What a fantastic effort by everyone who took part! 👏👏👏 All of the children participated so well and we are very proud of all of you. Also, a big well done to the rest of the Year 6 children who were a brilliantly supportive audience! 😊
World Book Day March 2023
It was brilliant to see the children all dressed up as their favourite book characters and wearing their comfy pyjamas. The children spent the day listening to stories, reading and talking about books.
As part of the day, a member of SLT (Senior Leadership Team) visited each class to read a story and each class took part in some buddy reading with a different year group. Here are some pictures!
Storytelling Week 16th January 2023
This week at St George’s, we have celebrated Storytelling Week! This event invites children to enjoy stories both old and new, to use as inspiration for the most classical form of entertainment: the telling of stories!
The children have taken part in various activities throughout the week which took them on a journey to become confident storytellers and with a focus on developing oracy skills. Each class buddied up with a different year group to perform a story/poem by the end of the week.
We also invited Peter Chand into our school who is a renowned storyteller and well known for his powerful, evocative and moving stories. He lead assemblies and delivered workshops to every year group!

Author Visit to School
Today, we were visited by local author Sarah Griffiths, who shared her latest books ‘Finding Stones for Grandma’ and ‘When the Fireflies Came’. The children had a wonderful time listening to her stories, joining in with interactive sessions and learning more about what it is like to be an author. It was fantastic to see how inspired the children were after her visit, with lots of children sharing ideas of the stories that they were now going to write themselves!
