Newsletter Welcome!

Welcome to our weekly newsletter where we share and celebrate news, events and achievements that have happened in the week. This is just a small selection of new so head to our website to read about more. All Christmas event dates can be found on the website and they have also been emailed out to parents and carers a couple of times for your information as there is a lot going on!

Performance Poetry in Year 6 ๐ŸŽญ

As part of our Performance Poetry topic in English, we have been studying the traditional poem ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas’ by Clement Clarke Moore.

The children have done an excellent job of learning and performing the poem. We have been especially impressed by how well they have worked as a team to create their performance, which involves every single member of our year group ๐Ÿ˜Š

Here are some pictures showing all stages of our project, from reading and analysing the poem, to learning in small groups, to performing with 75 children altogether! ๐Ÿฅฐ

Peace chain โค

Today we created our peace chain, we talked about what peace meant and what acts of kindness we could do.

Nurseryโ€™s Winter walk!

During the cold weather the children have loved exploring the icy conditions in the school grounds. They have discussed temperatures, frost, fog, ice, melting and shadows.

Reception- Cold Weather!

We have been embracing the cold weather in Reception. We went on a wintery walk around the track and looked for frost and ice and have explored our Reception playground. The children found their toys had been frozen in the water! We decided we needed to design our own hat, gloves and scarves to keep us warm. Here are a few of our designs.

It’s the Final Countdown…
…In just 48 hours, ticket sales for the Santa’s Grotto here at St George’s will close! By booking tickets you will be able to have your own family one-to-one time with our brilliant Santa, you will be able to take part in the arts and crafts activities, and you will be able to take home a quality toy for each ticketed child. We’d hate for you to miss out so do follow this link to grab your place for just ยฃ5.50 per child. Running from this Sunday the 10th December, over half of the slots have sold but the PTFA would *love* your support to raise the most funds possible for the school so please do book if you’re able. Thanks so much, and Merry Christmas! The link is:

Reception Paper Chains

This week, Reception had the Las Posadas box. We decided to make feathered paper chains to represent the dove of peace.

We had feathery sticky fun making them.

Unexpected Visitors – Year 1๐Ÿ˜ฒ

Some unexpected visitors have made their way into Year 1 this week!

Year 4 Las Posadas ๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŒŸ

Last week in Year 4, we received our Las Posadas box. We know that this is a religious festival to celebrate Joseph and Mary’s journey from Bethlehem to Nazareth in search of a place for Baby Jesus to be born.

In Set 2, we made our very own peace chains and hung them up in the Year 3/4 block.

This week in Year 2 ๐Ÿ˜

It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas ๐ŸŽ„ In Year 6!

This week, whilst the rest of Year 6 have been having a wonderful time at Arthog, we have been well and truly getting into the festive spirit!ย  ๐ŸŽ… Here are some pictures of our Twelve Days of Christmas artwork, plus our effort at decorating the school Christmas tree! ๐ŸŽ„

Reverse Advent Calendar

We will be doing our Reverse Advent Calendar again this year to collect food and toiletries for local people in need. The idea is instead of just receiving things (like chocolates out of Advent calendars) we try to give too. If your family would like to donate any items, please drop them into school. All donations will be given to Telford Crisis Support this year. Thank you.

Year 3 – Tudor Kings and Queens

We were historians in Year 3 today! We identified and highlighted the most appropriate and useful facts that we could find. We then used those facts to create different fact files about the Tudor Kings and Queens.

Well done everybody for such a brilliant afternoon! ๐Ÿ™‚
