Understand what the word character is. Choose a character and draw them in detail

Christmas in Year 1 🎄🤶🏼🎅🏼

This week, we have learnt all about the Nativity and why we celebrate this time of year. We have created lots of Christmas decorations, enjoyed a Christmas party and today we had a delicious Christmas lunch. We have had a lovely week!

 

🎅🏼Christingles this Christmas!🍊

Today we learnt all about Christingles. We looked at how Christian churches create them during the time of Advent. Each part of a Christingle represents something special from God. Here are some photos of our Christingles.

A Virtual Visit from Nick Sharratt ?

We had a lovely virtual visit from the author and illustrator Nick Sharratt this morning. He read us his new story ‘Oh No, Shark in the Snow.’ We also learnt how to draw some of the characters from his books. We followed along and drew our own illustrations, it was lots of fun!??

In Year 1…

In Year 1, we have been working really hard on our subtracting skills. We are getting really good at subtracting in our heads! In Literacy we have been creating paper chain sentences. We loved unjumbling the words and putting them into the right order. 😁😀

 

 

 

Teddy Bears in Year 1!

We have been learning all about toys in our history lessons. We have been comparing old and new teddy bears & learnt about how the oldest teddy bear got it’s name. We looked at famous teddy bears such as Winnie the Pooh and Pudsey Bear. Then we made our own teddy bear using felt and stuffing. Finally, we practised our sewing skills by sewing it together.

World Science Day!?‍??‍?

Today we are celebrating World Science Day. We have spent the afternoon making slime! We followed the instructions, used the correct measurements and worked as a team to create our slime. We had lots of fun creating it.

World Mental Health Day??

Today we have been learning all about world mental health day! We looked at how important it is to look after our mental health as well as our physical health. We wrote affirmations about all the amazing things we can do. Then, we wrote down something we would like to learn to do. ?
