This week in Year 1!

This week in Year 1 we have been learning all about the local history of St Georges. We have been creating beautiful artwork to show what we have learnt. It was very interesting and we have learnt lots!

We have been looking at ordering numbers in numeracy, we used numicon to put numbers from smallest to largest and largest to smallest.

We have also been learning about the life cycle of a butterfly, we created beautiful blob butterflies and ordered the life of a butterfly.

This Week in Year One

This week in Year One we have done lots of exciting things. We celebrated ‘European Day of Languages’ by learning how to count to 10 and making flags. Mrs Blair’s class had Denmark and Miss Hedges’ class and Miss Morgan’s class had Wales.

We learnt all about Victorian toys in history this week. We compared rich and poor children’s toys, our drawings were beautiful!

A few children took part in Mrs Humphries gardening nurture group they are going to be growing daffodils at home.

We are all still smiling despite the flood ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜.

This week we have been doing lots of wonderful things. We have done some super maths and started a brand new unit in Literacy. We have listened to the story of Monkey Puzzle and written sentences about it, we even went into the woods to be Monkeys. In maths we have been working on the different ways to represent the number 10.

We have also had Jacob from the Stourbridge rugby club come into school to do rugby and reading with us – it has been so much fun! ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€

Monkey Headdress ๐Ÿต๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ™ˆ

Today we read the storyย Monkey Puzzle for our first literacy unit. We made monkey headdresses and acted out the story with our friends. We have loved being monkeys this morning!

ROALD DAHL DAY!??

Today is Roald Dahl Day! We learnt who Roald Dahl was and looked at some of his books. We listened to the story of ‘The Enormous Crocodile’ and then created some of our own crocodiles. It was lot’s of fun. ??

D&T In Year 1?????

This week we have been learning about fruit and vegetables in design and technology.

We have found our class’ favourite fruit and vegetable, tasted different fruits and described how they felt. We even washed, peeled and cut different fruit. Today, we have designed a fruit salad, using our favourite fruits. We are going to make our fruit salad tomorrow. Here are some pictures from this week.

Letting our Butterflies go…๐Ÿ›๐Ÿฆ‹

Today we let our 5 butterflies fly away into the big wide world. We have loved watching them grow from caterpillars, into chrysalises and then into beautiful butterflies! We managed to get a few pictures before they flew away. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Butterflies in Year 1!

We are now a proud class of 28! ???

3 of our caterpillars have hatched into butterflies. It has been such an exciting day! We are planning to leave them some fruit over the weekend. Hopefully we will have 2 more by Monday. ?
