Throughout the week the children loved thinking about their Mum’s while making them heart keyrings in their favourite colour, decorating cards and having a really good go at writing mum and their own names inside, well done nursery!

British Science Week

This week in nursery the children have had a brilliant time celebrating British Science week, as this years theme is ‘growth’ they have been busy identifying things that grow in the natural world. The children have loved learning about plant growth, discussing the parts of a bulb and what bulbs need to grow. They have had a wonderful time decorating their plant pots and planting their own bulbs to look after. There is much excitement to see what colour flowers their plant will eventually grow!

Football Friday!

The nursery children really enjoyed their time on the field for their football slots, they listened carefully to the game play instructions and all had a good run around trying to kick the ball, some even scored goals! Well done nursery, what fabulous football playing!

Chinese New Year celebrations

In nursery we have been busy celebrating The Chinese New Year. We have made decorations, collage lanterns, handprint dragons and masks of either an animal on the Chinese zodiac or the Jade Emperor himself! At snack time the children have been very brave and tried some vegetable spring rolls, even if they thought they would not like them. They have loved learning the story of the ‘great race’ and the animals in the Chinese zodiac by playing matching pairs, using Chinese New Year play dough mats and role playing with their masks.

Office role play

The children have been very busy developing their communication skills in our new office area in nursery, they have loved chatting on the phone while drawing and writing in their notepads.

Small group reading

This week in nursery we have begun to look at books in small groups. The children are learning to treat books with respect while turning pages and telling the story from the pictures, while continuing to develop a passion for reading. This weeks book was ‘I can’t find it’, the children enjoyed having their own book to discover what the little boy had lost. After reading the book the children enthusiastically discussed details about the story content.

What fabulous reading nursery, well done!
