Making butter!

Last week in nursery we were food producers for a couple of sessions. We all worked brilliantly as a team to turn cream into butter. The children were amazed it changed from a liquid into butter milk and spreadable butter that they could eat on some nice fresh bread. Super shaking and team work nursery, our butter was delicious, well done!

Sheep shearing and wool

Over the last week in nursery the children have loved learning about sheep and wool. We have sheared sheep, investigated the textures of different wool types, shared humorous stories on sheep, sung sheep nursery rhymes and learned about everything that can be made from wool!

Nature investigation!

The children in nursery love using resources out of the drawers outside to go on a mini beast hunt, they explore all areas of the nursery yard to find many different kinds so they can observe and learn about them together. Throughout their brilliant bug hunting they have developed their team work and communication skills whilst being kind to nature and being very brave!

Coronation Celebrations!

This week in nursery we have been learning all about the King and his coronation. We have focused on the book ‘The King’s Runaway Crown’ written by Rosalind Spark and Ian Smith, this humorous story of a coronation caper has helped us extend our vocabulary, learn about London, the Royal Family and contributed to our matching pair cards. The children loved making crowns and having a royal party with dancing and merriment!

Observational flower painting

Last week in nursery the children created observational paintings of flowers, they looked carefully at the shapes and colours, then began to paint their pictures using their fingers or brushes. They created many beautiful paintings of our spring flowers!

Spring sequencing

The children have been having a great time at the investigation station, they have worked hard to think and discuss what happens in each of their chosen sequences and managed to put the pictures in order and on the correct number to fill the sequencing cards. What super sequencing nursery, well done!

Working in the vets

There was much excitement in the vets last week as we had a new customer! The children looked after the poorly horse brilliantly, they made it a comfy stable of cushions, checked what was wrong with it and stroked it during treatment. They all worked fabulously as a team and had many discussions throughout, what wonderful vets you are all becoming!

Farm animals

Last week in nursery we began to learn about animals, the children had a wonderful time counting eggs, creating a duck pond with number ducks and painting observational pictures of the animals you would may find on a farm. In our role play area the children have healed many poorly pets while working in our veterinary surgery, we have had a very busy week!

Parachute games

This week the children have loved having the parachute out, they worked as a team to raise it into the air from the floor then took it in turns to go underneath or on top, they really enjoyed experiencing all of the different colours while they moved above them. What super team work!

Easter learning

Over the last couple of weeks in nursery the children have loved learning about Easter, we have shared Easter stories and songs, extended our vocabulary using story based matching pairs, learned about wind up toys, counted eggs and created many Easter crafts!
