Farmer duck

This week, we have been reading the book Farmer Duck. We are really enjoying it.

Chicks

Our chicks are growing! They’ve started to grow different feathers and are lots bigger! We had a lovely time today watching them in the tuff spot whilst Mrs McEvoy gave them nice fresh bedding, food and water. Some of the chicks hopped into our hands and let us stroke them.

Mother’s day tea parties

Thank you so much to all the mummies who came to join us at either of our Mother’s day tea parties. The children all really enjoyed it and were so proud to spend time chatting with you and perform the Mother’s day poem we have been learning. Here are a few photos of two lovely afternoons.

Snow day!

We had so much fun last Thursday in the snow. Mrs Croft had the brilliant idea of bringing it into school on tuff spots so everyone could have a play in it without getting wet and cold outside. Here are some photos of the brilliant fun we all had!

Tricky word song

For the last 2 weeks we have had the phase 3 tricky words song as our going home song as lots of children are finding remembering these difficult.

Can you sing this at home with your child to help them remember the tricky words. Thank you.

Days of the week

This week we have been focussing on length and time in our maths lessons. Our maths song of the week has been the days of the week song. Have a listen together.

Citrus Fruit

This week on our ‘Time to talk’ table, we had a variety of citrus fruits for children to try. We encouraged children to look closely at, smell, feel and taste if they wanted to. Some children then wrote whether they liked or disliked the fruits. Well done everyone!

Simon’s Sock!

This week we have been focusing on making pairs and combining amounts in our maths lessons. We started off by reading the story of Simon’s Sock before sorting a basket of Mrs McEvoy’s families socks. We had to spot which pairs go together and why they are a good match. We also talked about which socks belonged to which family member by looking at the size and design! We went on to sorting out fish into pairs and we realised that 7 fish won’t sort into pairs which led us to talking about odd and even numbers.

Happy Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! We started off the day with an assembly about Saint Valentine. We then talked about who we love and why. We have really enjoyed doing lots of love themed activities in our free-flow sessions including making love potions with fresh flowers. We carefully used tweezers to pick up the flowers and added them into our water.
Here are some photos of what we have been up to.

Santa visit!

Today Santa has been to visit at school. The whole school enjoyed seeing Santa being driven in on his sleigh. We even had a little present from Santa left in our classrooms.
