Museum for London – The Great Fire of London Live Stream – Part 1

Join the Museum of London on Monday 6th July at 2pm LIVE on Facebook – you must ask parents to log in for you as you shouldn’t have your own Facebook account!

See details below for all the information!

Session description

Our KS1 favourite is back! With a twist: this time, we’re streaming to schools and families over three consecutive weeks.

Each week you’ll take an interactive tour through part of our Fire! Fire! exhibition – an exciting display that marked the event’s 350th anniversary – learning key facts and seeing a mix of real and replica objects that tell the story of the blaze.

You’ll then have the chance to ask questions about what you’ve learned to our museum expert – who’ll answer some live! – without needing to leave your school or home.

Here are the dates, times and topics:

Monday 6 July, 2-2.30pm – Part 1: How the fire began
Monday 13 July, 2-2.30pm – Part 2: How the fire was stopped
Monday 20 July, 2-2.30pm – Part 3: How the fire changed London

How Did the Great Fire of London Start?

Mrs Branford posted last week about the libraries Summer Reading Challenge. You can log on at home, create your own avatar and win prizes and downloads. You will set a challenge to read a certain amount of books and log your progress on the website. There are also links to accessing e-books and resources.

As well as this challenge, I have found some more books you might enjoy reading over the Summer before you start in Year 6. Hope you enjoy them!

REMINDER YOU HAVE UNTIL THIS FRIDAY TO COMPLETE YOUR PROJECT! YOU HAVE REALLY IMPRESSED US WITH YOUR POLLUTION AND STONE AGE PROJECTS, LET’S GO OUT WITH A BANG AND MAKE THIS ONE THE BEST ONE YET!

Over the next couple of weeks, we would like for you to research all about living things and their life cycles.

The following questions may give useful prompts for your research.

  • What do seeds require in order to germinate?
  • How does the ovary of a flower change as the flower wilts?
  • Which animals have the longest gestation period?

We would like you to find out about:

  • The life cycle of a plant
  • The differences between the life cycles of mammals, amphibians, insects and birds
  • How plants and animals reproduce
  • The work of David Attenborough and Jane Goodall as naturalists and animal behaviourists.

Here are some resources to get you started.
