Summer 1 Spellings

Here is a list of all the spellings that Mrs Probert’s and Miss Morgan’s group will be focusing on during Summer 1. The children will learn the rule every week and practise their spellings daily in school during our spelling session. The spellings are also uploaded to Spelling Shed weekly so using their log in the children can practise them using a range of spelling games at home too. A spelling test will take place on a Friday every week.

2P visit to Pizza Express

2P visited Pizza Express and made our own pizzas. We used kitchen tools safely and followed hygiene rules. We got to taste different toppings and found out how pizza are made. We really enjoying making them but the best part was tasting them. They were delicious!

Year 2 Florence Nightingale Workshop

Today we took part in a fantastic Florence Nightingale workshop. We took a step back in time to find out about the past. We handled different artefacts to look for clues about what life was like when Florence was alive. We even pretended that we were in the hospitals as nurses or soldiers.

Year 2 Ocarina

This week in music we started our Ocarina lessons. We learned how to hold the ocarina, how to cover the holes correctly and how to breathe into it with a warm, steady breath. By the end of the lesson we had learned how to play a low D, high D, A and B. We even started to learn the first part of Twinkle, twinkle little star.

Year 2 Black History Month

This week we listened to the story of Rosa Parks. We understood how Rosa Parks fought discrimination. We created our own pictures of her and added words to describe her and her actions. .

British Wildlife

We have been learning about British Wildlife Animals . In Year 2 we focused on learning facts about brown-eared bats, toads and harvest mice. We created our own British Wildlife display and wrote memorable facts.
