Y4 Science! 😎

As part of our Science topic looking at ‘States of Matter‘, we investigated non-Newtonian fluids. We mixed cornflour and water to make a ‘slime’ which behaves like a liquid until it is put under pressure, then it becomes a solid.

We had lots of fun in our groups! 😊

Y4 George’s Marvellous Medicine! 📚✏

Our author focus in Literacy is Roald Dahl.  📚📝

In today’s lesson, we made our very own marvellous  medicines! We chose different ingredients that we wanted to use and thought of exciting names and descriptions for each of them. We remembered to include rhyme, alliteration and onomatopoeia to make our descriptions interesting, just like Roald Dahl does! ⭐🌟✨

Welcome back! 😊🌈⭐

What an amazing first day we have had in Year 4! 🌞

The children have really impressed us with how well they have settledback into school. We have enjoyed lots of team games this afternoon in the sunshine and we can’t wait for more fun activities tomorrow!

Come Dine With Me! ?‍??‍???

A huge well done to all of the children in Year 1 and Year 4 for participating in ‘Come Dine with Me‘. The children spent the morning baking delicious treats for each other and then sat together for an afternoon of tasting in the hall! We all had a lovely time! ??⭐

Alarms! ⏰⏰

Our new Design and Technology project is Alarms. In today’s lesson, we investigated different circuits and switches to gather ideas for making our own alarm systems. We thought back to our Electricity work in Science from the Autumn Term to remember what components we need to make a circuit. We also started to think about ideas for how to make different switches including push-to-make and push-to-break switches. Due to working with electricity, we discussed ways to stay safe.

Lego Workshop! ?‍♀️?‍♂️??

Well done to Year 4 for showing fantastic team work skills during our Lego Workshop today. The children worked collaboratively to make models of St George’s church and the Ironbridge and many more! ?

Fieldwork Week! ??

Last week was Fieldwork Week in Geography. ??

To celebrate this, we designed a poster for ‘World Environment Day’  thinking of ways to help look after the world. In our French lessons, we celebrated ‘World Oceans Day’ and produced beautiful pieces of work. We also took part in an Orienteering activity and explored the school grounds using maps and compass points.

St George’s got Talent auditions! ???

A huge well done to all of the children in Year 4 who auditioned this afternoon for St George’s got talent 2023! ?? We were so proud of all of the acts and thought you all performed amazingly in front of a big audience! We can’t wait to find out who is going through to the next round! ⭐⭐⭐

Dental Hygiene! ???

This week in our Science lessons, we looked at dental hygiene and ways to keep our teeth healthy. We understood the importance of brushing our teeth and going to the dentist regularly. We used disclosing tablets to help identify areas of the children’s teeth that they had missed after brushing their teeth.

It was a very fun lesson! Well done, Year 4! ?
