Poppy art work

This week, the children have been learning about Remembrance Day.

They have had a very special assembly this morning and all of year three were very respectful.

The children have done some fantastic Poppy art work.

Here are a few examples:

RE in year three

This half term, we have been looking at Diwali. The children have learned about the celebration and why it is special. This week, the children have made their own Diya, this is a lamp which represents light over darkness and good overcoming evil.

PE kit

Please can all children have their PE kit in school tomorrow. This includes a pair of trainers as we are doing football.

We also have a Zamble African Dance workshop tomorrow morning.

Thank you

A Fantastic First Day

We would like to say a huge well done to the children in year three for settling back into school brilliantly. It has been such a lovely first day back.

Just a few reminders:

  • P.E kit must be in school every day.
  • Children are expected to read at least five times a week.

Thanks for your support

Year three team.

Come Dine With Me

It has been a very exciting day in year three today.

The children spent this morning designing and making muffin pizzas. They chose which toppings they wanted and they also made some for the nursery children.

This afternoon, the children have been in the large hall with some of the children from nursery. They had made year three some delicious cookies and chocolate milk.

A big well done to all the children in year three, they have been really sensible and it was a very enjoyable day.

Hinduism

In year three, we have been looking at Hinduism. Firstly, the children learned about the main beliefs of a Hindu. After that, they looked at Mandirs, which is a Hindu place of worship. The children drew some great pictures and identified special features of them.

Here are some examples of the children’s work.

Next, we are looking at festivals and symbols.

Butterflies

This afternoon, we have let the butterflies go. The children have done a great job of looking after them.

Fieldwork Week

It is fieldwork week in school.

Fieldwork is research or study that happens in the real world. We can observe and get data about people, the natural environment and cultures.

This year the theme is ‘Environment’. Everything physical on Earth is part of an environment. This can include living and non-living things.

People can make changes to the environment. Some can be good changes. Some might be harmful to living things.

Things to think about:

What is your favourite part of the school grounds?

What is your favourite part of around your home?

Is it a good environment for wildlife? If so / not why?

Is there much litter or pollution?

The children will be doing fieldwork activities this week.

Cricket in Year Three

On a Wednesday afternoon, year three have been doing cricket with Maisy from Shropshire Cricket Board. They have been learning some new skills  and have played  games in small teams. They have really enjoyed learning to play cricket.

Coasts

The children have been learning about physical features of coasts. They sorted pictures into arches, caves and stacks.

After that, the children learned about The Holbeck Hall Hotel Disaster. In 1993, a landslide began underneath the hotel, the entire east wing of the hotel collapsed into the sea. The children learned that this happened because of coastal erosion.

The children wrote some fantastic newspaper reports about the disaster.
