Creative prayer

On Thursday, we talked about prayer. We all said a prayer that had a repeated line ‘God cares about all of us’. We then used lots of different creative techniques to make a prayer display.

Dog’s Trust Assembly

This week, we have welcomed Alison from Dog’s Trust into our assemblies to talk to the children about how to keep safe around dogs.

The children have learnt that if they want to stroke a dog that they see out in public, they must:

  • Ask the owner- it is very important to get permission first.
  • Ask the dog- the children know to stand with their hands by their sides.
  • Wait for the dog to come to you- if the dog doesn’t it means that they don’t want to be stroked.
  • Always stroke the dog on the side of their body so they can see what is happening.
  • Always stroke dogs gently.

The children have also learnt what to do if they are scared when a dog comes up to them.

  • Never run away, always stand still as the dog may think it is a game.
  • Anything that you might have in your hands that a dog may like, throw it away on the floor.
  • Cross your arms so that they cannot sniff your hands.
  • Don’t look at the dog.

See if your child can remember what to do around dogs that they see out and about!

New Year

This week, we have been talking about years and months. We have looked at how many months there are in a year and we have sung the song below to learn their names and the order of them.

Well Done Nursery and Reception Children and Staff!

We have had 2 fantastic performances of our nativity by almost 100 children in nursery and reception today. They did so well and we got to hear some lovely singing and lots of great dance moves! Thank you to all the adults who came to watch- we do hope you enjoyed it too.

Photos/videos for Christmas Performances/Carol Concerts

We know as proud parents and carers you may want to take photos/videos of your child performing in the Christmas performances/carol concerts. However, please note that a number of parents have not consented to photos being taken of their children in school and some of our children are currently in care.

Therefore, the taking of photos/videos does cause the school some safeguarding concerns.

Please can we ask that if you do take photos/videos please try to only take images of your own children where possible and do not post images of other children on your social media. Thank you for your support with this.

Phonics Workshop

Little Wandle

Thank you to all of the parents that took the time to attend the Phonics and Early Reading workshops before half term! We hope that you found it useful.

For further information about the Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised Programme go to https://www.littlewandlelettersandsounds.org.uk/resources/for-parents/.

Here you will be able to access videos which show you how to pronounce the sounds and how we teach your child specific aspects of phonics in class. There is also downloadable information to support your child at home.

On Thursday 16th November, we will be holding an Early Phonics drop in session from 8.45-9.15 and 2.30-3.00 for parents of children in our Foundation Stage (Reception and Nursery). Pop in and look at our resources and ask any questions about how you can help your child to acquire key phonic skills and begin their reading journey. There is no need to book, just turn up at any time for either session!

If you have any further questions about Phonics or Early Reading please don’t hesitate to talk to your child’s class teacher.

Thank you again for your continued support.

Volcanos

This week after talking about volcanos during our v work in phonics, Mrs Becker made a volcano outside with some children. It was a great opportunity for them to develop their vocabulary.
