Reception Christingles

On Monday, we had a lot of fun making Christingles. We learnt what each part of it

represented and practised our counting skills when we put on the sticks then the sweets

.

Reception- Cold Weather!

We have been embracing the cold weather in Reception. We went on a wintery walk around the track and looked for frost and ice and have explored our Reception playground. The children found their toys had been frozen in the water! We decided we needed to design our own hat, gloves and scarves to keep us warm. Here are a few of our designs.

Reception Paper Chains

This week, Reception had the Las Posadas box. We decided to make feathered paper chains to represent the dove of peace.

We had feathery sticky fun making them.

Reception singing

This week, we have set up a sparkly stage with microphones and music. The children are loving singing well known songs and playing music to accompany their friends.

Exciting news! We’re thrilled to introduce our new Christmas-themed writing competition! We’re on the lookout for imaginative pieces of writing that capture the magic of Christmas.

You’re free to express your creativity in any Christmas writing form—whether it’s a story, poem, comic strip, diary entry, newspaper report, or anything else that sparks your fancy! Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • Write a crime report about a mysterious ‘intruder’ on Christmas Eve.
  • Create a poem about Santa falling too sick to work on Christmas Eve.
  • Craft a story about Santa being mistaken for a burglar!

Give all entries to Miss Bibi or Mrs Branford by Monday, December 11th.

What’s even more exciting?

All entries will be compiled into a special book for the school and there are runner-up prizes to be won. We’ll select one outstanding piece from each year group as the winning entry.

So, what are you waiting for? Let the magical writing journey begin!

Funky Fingers- Reception

We have already had 2 weeks in our Funky Fingers after school club and exercised our fingers a lot! we made some lovely scrunched tissue paper pictures last week and this week turned an empty toilet roll into an alien or monster (there was also one princess as well.) It was quite tricky cutting the hair but we did a great job of it.

Reception handwriting

W e are trying to form our circular letters correctly. We have worked on c and a. We are now having a focus on g. We have enjoyed writing it on big sugar paper, whiteboards and sheets. Super writing Reception.
