Telford and Wrekin Art Competition for World Environment Day

Hi everyone! We hope you are all safe and well. We have received this message into school today from Telford and Wrekin Council and we’d love our school to get involved!

‘We’re celebrating World Environment Day this weekend with an art competition open to anyone under 11. We thought that due to the current circumstances in schools this might be the perfect opportunity to get the kids outside and thinking about the local area?

We want to see paintings, drawings, collages and tree rubbings! Whatever it is, it just needs to celebrate the abundance of nature and wildlife we have in the borough.

We would love to share the entries on our social media accounts too – so please let us know if that’s possible?

All entries will be in with a chance of winning a post lockdown guided tour of the beautiful Lightmoor Nature Reserve with their family.

The competition is open to children aged 11 and under, living in the borough.

Please send any artwork to us at mywildtelford@telford.gov.uk by the end of Monday 8 June.’

We have emailed all St George’s families this afternoon with a printable template for the competition which you might find helpful but you can use anything you like. If you do take part, please share your pictures with us too as well as sending it to the official entry email address above. Thank you.

Key worker children-essential to book your place please

Current key worker families: As more children are now coming in to school as key workers, it is essential that you book your child in with us. If you do not book them in, we may not be able to have them on that day due to numbers. Please email admin@stgeorgesschool.org.uk to let us know you childcare requirements for weeks beginning 1st and 8th June by tomorrow midday at the latest. Thank you.

New key worker families: If you are a key worker and your child is coming into school for the first time since lockdown, it is essential that you book a place for them by emailing admin@stgeorgesschool.org.uk. If you do not book them in, we may not be able to have them on that day due to numbers. We are asking for you to email your childcare requirements by midday tomorrow for weeks beginning 1st and 8th June. Thank you.

From Monday 1st June, we will be organising the classrooms a bit differently for key worker children in light of the new risk assessment we have done following national and local new guidance. This will include a one way system for dropping off and collecting your child. We will email all key worker parents tomorrow with a detailed plan once we have final numbers of children who will be coming into school. The full Risk Assessment will be added to the school website later today.

Please note, at this stage school is only open to key worker children and vulnerable children. As soon as we know more, we will let other groups/year groups know a start date.

Thank you for your patience.

St George’s Kindness Work Video

It has been lovely to see so many of you show acts of kindness
which supports our school values but also good mental and
emotional health. Keep up the good work St George’s! We hope
you enjoy this video of some of the acts of kindness that have
taken place in the last week or so.

Design a Book Token Competition!

We have an exciting opportunity to win book tokens for the children of St George’s! To take part, children need to design a National Book Token – the winning entries will be used on National Book Token gift cards and the winners will receive a £10 book token for themselves and for every one of their classmates.

Follow this link for more details and to print a template and an entry form.

https://www.nationalbooktokens.com/create-a-national-book-token-for-your-class?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_content=create&utm_campaign=create

Entries must be submitted by Sunday 28th June.

It would be fantastic for one of our children to be able to surprise their classmates with some fabulous book tokens when they return to school!

Happy designing and good luck 😊

The competition is open from Wednesday 6th May and the closing date for entries is Sunday 28th June 2020.

We’ll pick one winner each week until the competition closes (you only need to submit an entry once for it to be considered every week!). The winners will be featured on nationalbooktokens.com and our social media channels, and their designs will be printed onto gift cards for each of their classmates when schools reopen.
