Year Group Emails

Every year group now has an email address set up so families can email work that your child feels particularly proud of or even just to say hello! Emails will only be responded to during school hours and the purpose is for your child to feel that they can communicate positively with staff. Please look on your child’s year group area (within the Parents’ Area) on the new website for further details.

Year 6 Leavers’ Hoodies

Despite the current circumstances, as in previous years, we will soon be ordering Leavers’ Hoodies for all the Year 6 children who would like to purchase one. They have been very popular in the past, as the children like to wear them on their last few weeks in school ( and we really hope that this will be the case this year too!) and then keep them as a memory of their year group at St George’s.

The hoodies will be printed with the St George’s logo on the front like the school jumpers/fleeces and on the back the number 20 with all Year 6 children’s first names and surnames printed within the number.

Unfortunately, children will not be able to try on the hoodies this year and, once the hoodies have been ordered, refunds cannot be given.

Hoodies are available in three different sizes:
• Large Youth 9-11 Yrs. £14.50
• Extra Large Youth 12-13 Yrs. £14.50
• Small Adult £14.50

and available in four different colours:
• Red Hot Chilli
• Sapphire Blue
• Hot Pink
• Charcoal

If you wish to purchase one of these for your child please complete the attached form and return it to the school admin address (admin@stgeorgesschool.org.uk) by Friday 8th May. Payment must be made through parent pay before hoodies are ordered.
If you can’t print out the form or fill this out on a computer please include all of the information on the form in an email, we must have all of the information requested on the form in order to order your child’s leavers hoodie.

We will not accept orders over the phone as sending us an email is our way of a signature and proof of what you have ordered. Thank you for your co-operation with this.

Should you have any questions relating to this please do not hesitate to contact me or the office staff at school.
Kind Regards

Mrs K. A. Watts
Deputy Head Teacher

Reading at Home with St George’s

Great to see there is lots of reading being enjoyed at home. Well done everyone!

Being busy in school.

The key worker children that came to school yesterday were very busy. We spent the afternoon outside where John and Tom were in charge of building a stick house. They had the idea themselves and were the foremen for the build. They made sure all the sticks were the right size and that people knew where to put them. They then led a team of decorators. The project was completed on time and under budget. Well done boys!

Nikita made a natural art picture, Oscar and Mrs Mackeen took turns to sing songs by passing the ‘singing stone’ and Jake carefully split open some cherry stones using a rough rock that he found to collect the seeds.

Art work for NHS staff at Telford and Shrewsbury Hospitals

Well done to staff and children in school who have created these wonderful pieces of art work which will be displayed in wellbeing rooms for NHS staff working in local hospitals. We hope that our art work helps to cheer them up when they take their well-earned breaks.

Y5 and Y6 Author Competitions

We have been sent details of three competitions from author Luke Temple. Having looked at this, we think it is suitable for our pupils in Years 5 and 6. Any entries need to be sent directly to the details given, not into school please. We’d love as many children to enter as possible- you could win a school visit from Luke!

Here are the details from Luke:

To help bring a bit of excitement to children’s ‘home schooling’, I have:

  • Made my most popular book, Mutating Mansion, completely free to download.
  • Created an activity pack for KS2, ‘Luke Temple’s Writing Toolbox‘. This contains lots of the tools I use to help make my books really exciting, fun and scary to read. I hope children can use the tools to have a go at their own writing.
  • There is also a competition in the activity pack to win a signed book and a free author visit to their school (there are 3 of these prizes up for grabs). The closing date for the competition is 31st May.

The book and activity pack, including the competition details, can be downloaded from www.luketemple.co.uk/toolbox
