National Award Nomination

It gives us great pleasure to inform you that our school has been nominated for a national award. The Alex Timpson ARC Attachment Award recognises and celebrates best practice in attachment and trauma aware schools and settings. It highlights all the work our school does in supporting all children in our care, including our most vulnerable pupils.

Winners will be announced at the national ARC conference which is being held in Birmingham on the 22nd November 2022. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!

Jubliee Badges

Most children received a special Jubilee badge this week in school from Telford and Wrekin Council. We are waiting for extra badges to be delivered as there weren’t quite enough. Those children who did not receive one will hopefully get theirs after half term.

Please see the link below for details.

Summer of Kindness Activities – The Red Cross

The Red Cross have a produced an activity pack to help promote mental health and wellbeing. This summer they are asking children to complete a ‘Summer of Kindness Calendar’ where they can write down something kind they have done for each day of the month. There is also a certificate to print off when your child has completed the calendar. The Red Cross have also added activities for each week that encourage the children to think about kindness, to help build resilience as well as being aware of their own wellbeing.

All of the activities, calendars and certificates are below:

Year 6 Science – Heart and Lungs Topic ❤

This week, we have started our ‘Heart and Lungs’ topic in Science. It has been fascinating to learn lots of new things about this! Here are some of the posters that we created during our lesson about blood.

Managing and Understanding Emotions

Is your child struggling to manage their emotions? Sometimes a child may be finding it difficult and frustrating to explain how they feel and often this can make some emotions heightened. By having an emotion chart displayed, they can either point to the emotion they are feeling or use the chart to find the correct word to describe the emotion. This can then allow a discussion to take place to talk about why they may feel this way and what they could do to manage it.

Here is an example of an emotion chart:  Emotions Chart
