Phonics Workshop

Little Wandle

Thank you to all of the parents that took the time to attend the Phonics and Early Reading workshops before half term! We hope that you found it useful.

For further information about the Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised Programme go to https://www.littlewandlelettersandsounds.org.uk/resources/for-parents/.

Here you will be able to access videos which show you how to pronounce the sounds and how we teach your child specific aspects of phonics in class. There is also downloadable information to support your child at home.

On Thursday 16th November, we will be holding an Early Phonics drop in session from 8.45-9.15 and 2.30-3.00 for parents of children in our Foundation Stage (Reception and Nursery). Pop in and look at our resources and ask any questions about how you can help your child to acquire key phonic skills and begin their reading journey. There is no need to book, just turn up at any time for either session!

If you have any further questions about Phonics or Early Reading please don’t hesitate to talk to your child’s class teacher.

Thank you again for your continued support.

Music with Miss Mogg 🎼

Last Friday, Miss Mogg came down to Year 2 to teach the children how to play the Ocarina.

RAF Cosford Museum Educational Visit ✈

Our Year 2 children had a fantastic time at the RAF Museum in Cosford on Tuesday! The children participated in a helicopters and parachutes workshop and a rockets workshop. The STEM activities on offer linked nicely to the children’s current Travel and Transport topic in History.

Design a Watch Competition

A ‘Design a Watch’ competition has been launched today in school with a number of analogue watches on offer as prizes for the winning entries. Please ask your child’s class teacher for an entry form if your child would like to enter. Please can completed entries be handed in to Mrs Morris or Mr Porteous by Wednesday 23rd November. Thank you for your support and good luck.

Visit from Mr Hylton Senior!

Yesterday we had a special visitor called Mr Hylton. He came to talk to us about his career in the army and what Remembrance Day means to him. The children enjoyed seeing pictures of Mr Hylton as a soldier and had plenty of questions ready to ask him!

Year 1 & 2 Disco 🎶

Our Year 1 and 2 children had a great time at our school disco on Tuesday evening. Like last year, the snow foam cannon proved to be very popular!
