Learning about Money in Year 2 💷

This week we have been learning about pounds and pence. We looked at different coins and their amount, we also started to look at notes! We opened envelopes and practised adding up the different coins.

Spellings Spring 1

Here is a list of all the spellings that Mrs Probert’s and Miss Morgan’s group will be focusing on during Spring 1. The children will learn the rule every week and practise their spellings daily in school during our spelling session. The spellings are also uploaded to Spelling Shed weekly  so using their log in the children can practise them using a range of spelling games at home too. A spelling test will take place on a Friday every week.

St George’s C of E Primary School Young Saver Scheme 👛

Just Credit Union Parent Letter

With the support of the ‘Just Credit Union’, we are excited to announce the launch of our new ‘St George’s C of E Primary School Young Saver Scheme.’

This evening, your child should have brought home a double-sided letter explaining everything that you need to know. Please speak to your child’s class teacher tomorrow if this is not the case.

Please find a copy of the letter above, but you will need access to a printer if you are wanting to complete an application form.

We hope that our exciting new initiative will be of interest to your child.

Design & Technology Christmas Pop-Up Card Competition🎄

Well done to all of the children that entered the Design & Technology Christmas Pop-up card competition. We were blown away by the amount of children that entered. Each one was fantastic and it was so hard to pick a winner. Our KS1 winner was Moby, we also had two runners up, Khyla-Rose and Harrison.

Y2 Literacy

In our recent literacy unit, we dove into poems.

The children enjoyed reading some of Michael Rosen’s poems, including “Hot Potato,” “Chocolate Cake,” and “Don’t.” To end our unit, the children wrote their own ‘Don’t’ poems. They had so much fun inventing their own real and silly rules!

See the videos below of Michael Rosen performing some of his fantastic poems!

Christmas Writing Competition 🎅🎄✏

On Friday, we revealed the winners of the Christmas writing competition!

We were truly impressed by the wonderful entries and thoroughly enjoyed reading each one! The entries included stories, poems, and heartfelt reflections on personal Christmas experiences. Choosing the winners and runners-up was no easy task, as every entry was filled with creativity and joy!

A big congratulations to all the amazing young writers who participated in our competition.            Thank you for sharing your creativity and festive spirit with us.🤩

Below, you’ll find pictures of our winners from KS1.
