Food Chains! ⛓

Pupils are provided with images of a variety of plants and animals and will have to place them into different columns to decide if they are a Producer, a Consumer or a Decomposer.

The resource comes with two variations of the Producers, Consumers and Decomposers worksheet: One with just producers and consumers, and one with all three, to provide differentiated difficulty levels tailored to classes of varying ability.

What are producers, consumers and decomposers in the food chain?

In the natural world, a producer is any kind of green plant that uses photosynthesis to create its own food, such as an Oak tree, which produces seeds eaten by a variety of animals, or Consumers.

Consumers have to eat producers or other consumers in their habitat to survive until they die and are consumed by decomposers: any organism that feeds on dead organisms or waste from living ones, including fungus and insects.

Adding and subtracting fractions

Adding and subtracting fractions with the same denominator is super easy! Simply add/subtract the numerators (the top number) together to get your new numerator. Simplify the fraction if needed.

Example:

What is the total of 2/8 + 4/8?

Here, you want to start off by adding the 2 and the 4. That gives you 6. So, your new fraction is 6/8.

Symmetry – Shading

This worksheet is the perfect resource for visual learners, to help them to learn how to recognise symmetrical shapes as well as draw and colour their own. This task requires a great deal of focus and care to perfectly recreate the shapes on the left side of the sheet on the right. Perfect for young Maths students.

Use this PowerPoint to help explain the idea of symmetry to your child.
