Christmas Wishes

Today, the children have been making Christmas wishes. They have thought of wishes for:

Their family

Their friends in school

Their community

Themselves

The world

The children have thought of some lovely ideas which showed how much they cared for everyone around them.

In year three, we are very excited for the last few weeks in school celebrating Christmas.

Photos/videos for Christmas Performances/Carol Concerts

We know as proud parents and carers you may want to take photos/videos of your child performing in the Christmas performances/carol concerts. However, please note that a number of parents have not consented to photos being taken of their children in school and some of our children are currently in care.

Therefore, the taking of photos/videos does cause the school some safeguarding concerns.

Please can we ask that if you do take photos/videos please try to only take images of your own children where possible and do not post images of other children on your social media. Thank you for your support with this.

Fossils

As part of our ‘Rocks’ topic in science we have been learning all about fossils which the children have really enjoyed. They have found out all about Mary Anning – the greatest ever fossil hunter and learned about the two different types of fossil – trace and body. They have especially enjoyed making their own fossils.

Literacy

This week in literacy we started looking at non-chronological reports. We had a great lesson identifying and finding the features and the children are all really looking forward to writing their own next week!

Miss Engleby – Figure Skating ⛸

Miss Engleby, one of our teaching assistants who work in Year 5, is a talented Figure Skater. Miss Engleby was impressively one of the Figure Skaters during the Disney on Ice tour. We will be sharing another of our staff members sporting pursuits tomorrow…

Our ‘Design a Watch’ competition has now closed. We have received a whopping 198 amazing entries and we are in the process of carefully going through the entries to select our winners. The winners will be announced in Friday’s Celebration Assemblies. Thank you for your support.

Staff Sports

On Tuesday, our Key Stage 1 and 2 children had an assembly all about the sports that our members of staff pursue outside of school. Mr Perry loves attending his weekly Judo sessions.

Christmas Lyrics

In school, we have started to practise the songs for our Christmas performance.

Today, the children will be coming home with lyrics so they can practise at home.

Tudor Food

We have started looking at the Tudors in History. This afternoon, we looked at what life was like during the Tudor period. They discovered that food was very different between poor people and rich people. The children created some great plates to show the differences.

Design a Watch Competition

A ‘Design a Watch’ competition has been launched today in school with a number of analogue watches on offer as prizes for the winning entries. Please ask your child’s class teacher for an entry form if your child would like to enter. Please can completed entries be handed in to Mrs Morris or Mr Porteous by Wednesday 23rd November.
