Year 3 Recycling Week

Today as part of recycling week the children have been designing and making their own cardboard robots!

We were really impressed with how creative they were. 😊

Year 3 Exploring Fonts

As part of our design and technology topic, we looked at different fonts and making our words stand out. The children produced some amazing work!

Cross Country! 🏃‍♂️

On Tuesday 10th October, children from year 3, 4, 5 and 6 competed in a cross country event at Chetwynd Deer Park. The children were amazing and tried their hardest. All of the staff were incredibly proud of our children. The PE team would like to thank Lisa and Louise, members of the PTFA for giving up their time to attend the event with us! It was a brilliant day!

RE in year three

This half term, we have been looking at Diwali. The children have learned about the celebration and why it is special. This week, the children have made their own Diya, this is a lamp which represents light over darkness and good overcoming evil.

Blue Peter Book Club

The Blue Peter presenters and Henry alongside the Blue Peter Book Club logo on a blue background.

Blue Peter have launched a new Book Club which we are very excited to promote in school!

Each month Blue Peter will put together a list of 6 amazing books as recommended reads. We will provide copies of these books, which the children can sign out and borrow. These will be stored in the main entrance of the school and can be borrowed for a maximum of 1 week.

By sharing a book review after you have read the book, the children can earn the brand –new Blue Peter Book Badge, designed by Sir Quentin Blake. To earn your badge, the children will need to fill in the Book Badge Application Form which will ask them questions the book they have read. The form can be accessed from the Blue Peter website. It can be uploaded online or sent by post.

Year 3 On The Move! 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️

Today, we all walked around St. Georges. We had a challenge to tick off different key buildings as we were going.

When we returned to school, we used Google Earth to highlight the route we walked. We also sketched and plotted where the different key buildings were.

Our St. Georges memories

Today, we were lucky enough to have Mr Handley come in to school. He told us all about what St. Georges was like when he was growing up. He also told us about his happy memories to do with St. Georges.

We then wrote our own special memories about both St. Georges and St. George’s Primary School.

Moving Mechanisms

As part of our design and technology topic, Year 3 have been creating moving mechanisms that can go inside a story book.

So far, we have made pop outs, flaps and lever mechanisms.
