Stuffed Peppers! ?‍??‍?

Today in Design and Technology, we made delicious stuffed peppers! ❤

We practised our chopping, dicing and grating skills. We recapped our food safety rules before cooking and made sure we washed our equipment thoroughly when we had finished with hot, soapy water.

We are so pleased with how well our peppers cooked and we are very excited to try them this afternoon! ?

Baking in Year 4! ???

This term’s Design and Technology unit is ‘Seasonal Food‘. In today’s lesson, we followed a recipe to bake fairy cakes using flour made by milling grain. We thought carefully about working hygienically and safely. The children weighed out and measured their own ingredients and made some beautiful fairy cakes!

A huge well done to all of our bakers! ?‍??‍??

Judo!

A huge well done to all of the Year 4 pupils who participate in the Judo taster session. The children explored break falling, backwards throws and hold downs. It was great to see the children’s involvement and they asked some very interesting questions about the heritage of Judo!

Arthog 23′

A huge well done to all of the Year 4 children who participated in this years Arthog outreach sessions. It has been a huge success and we are pleased to have seen the progress and development of the children. They have braved some cold conditions and have shown excellent resilience when learning how to canoe.

Online Safety Information

A huge thank you to the parents that came to our online safety workshop last week.

If you were unable to attend but would still like the information, the slides that we shared are available here.

There is also access to a google drive which has information on games your children may be playing/how to set up devices safety/how to get more information on what they are doing online-you can access this here.

As always, if you have any concerns, please feel free to speak to your child’s class teacher or a member of our Safeguarding team.

Big Walk and Wheel Event 2023

Register your school for Sustrans' Big Walk and Wheel today! | Raring2go!

We are taking part in Sustran’s Big Walk and Wheel, the UK’s biggest inter-school walking, wheeling, scooting and cycling to school competition. The event will run all week from 20th-24th March. It is free and we would love everyone to be involved!
On each day of the challenge schools will compete to see who can record the greatest number of pupils walking, using a wheelchair, scooting or cycling to school. The Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSOs) at St Georges will collect this data and with the help of Miss Bibi, will add it to the Sustans website.
Schools will be entered into a daily prize draw for rewards (including equipment and accessories) if over 15% of their pupils walk, use a wheelchair, scoot or cycle on that day of the challenge.
We want all children to join in the fun and to understand the health and wellbeing benefits of active travel. Please help us to encourage your child to walk, scoot or cycle to school this week. Don’t forget to make sure they wear a helmet if they do scoot or cycle.

Useful resources

To help you prepare, Sustrans has developed a handy free guide to walking, cycling or scooting to school. It is packed with advice to help you have hassle-free journey to school.

St George’s World Book Day Competition!🐉💚

Well done to everyone in Year 4 for their amazing competition entries! We have been blown away with the children’s efforts 🏆 We have received so many entries including some marvellous drawings and incredible sculptures! We can’t wait to celebrate them all in assembly.

Recorders! ??

As part of our Music lessons this term, Year 4 have been learning to play the recorder! ? Building on their knowledge and skills, the children have learned how to hold and blow their recorders and recognise 3 notes – B, A and G.

After lots of group practise, the children have successfully played ‘Mary had a little lamb’ and ‘All Aboard’ which included 1, 2 and 4 counts.

Well done to everyone! ?

Sweetie Science – Identification Keys

Year 4 created their own keys to identify different types of sweets. They had to look at the features of the sweets and ask yes/no questions to sort out all the different types. They worked very hard and we had lots of successful keys.
