Storytelling Week! πŸ“š

As part of our Storytelling Week, we studied a poem about the water cycle. We thought carefully about our speaking and listening skills and how to make our performance entertaining for an audience. We worked hard to remember all of the words and added lots of actions and expression in our voices. At the end of the week, Set 2 and 3 performed their poem to Year 1 whilst Set 1 buddied up with Nursery. We all had a fantastic time! πŸ˜ƒπŸ“š

Coding! ?

This half term in our Computing lessons, we have been learning all about coding. The children in Year 4 have worked incredibly hard using software on Purple Mash to input tricky coding. We have planned algorithms and used 2Code to program them! We have even created IF statements using prompts and timers. Well done Year 4!

Have a look at some of our fantastic coding! ??

Arthog 23′

A huge well done to all of the children who were involved in the Arthog outreach activity day this week. We had an amazing day, braving the cold conditions canoeing over Simpsons Lake. The children played a number of games, as well as showing teamwork to tie together the canoes, paddle and solve problems.

Well done to all of those involved!

Year 4 team

Year 4 RE

Year 4 have worked together to create something beautiful while revising their knowledge of the creation story shared by Jews and Christians.Β  (Genesis 1)Β  They loved responding creatively to the story. Their work was so good that we had to make TWO displays! Take a peek in the Year 4 corridor and 4W to see them.

Storytelling Week

National Storytelling Week 2023 Activities | National Literacy Trust | National Literacy Trust

This week at St George’s, we will be celebrating Storytelling Week! This event invites children to enjoy stories both old and new, to use as inspiration for the most classical form of entertainment: the telling of stories!

The children will take part in various activities throughout the week which will take them on a journey to become confident storytellers with a focus on developing oracy skills. Each class will buddy up with a different year group and perform a story/poem by the end of the week.

We have also invited Peter Chand into our school who is a renowned storyteller and well known for his powerful, evocative and moving stories. He will lead assemblies and deliver workshops to every year group!
