Virtual School Games Competition πŸ…πŸ†πŸ… βš½οΈβšΎοΈπŸ€πŸˆπŸŽΎπŸπŸ‘

Hello everybody 😊

Energize Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin have some fantastic sporting activities & a competition that you can enter, which involves sending pictures or videos of children completing the activities. They have been designed to be completed at home in the garden, as well as in schools.

It lasts 6 weeks & began on Monday 18th May with Dodgeball!

Week 2 was New Age Kurling and this week it is Athletics.

You can also complete any of the previous weeks sporting activities and still submit those too.

Click on the link below to find out more:

They are also holding a ‘School Games Has Got Talent’ competition which you can also enter and show off your amazing talent!

Hope you are well and staying active, healthy & safe πŸ™‚

Mrs Morris 😊

Times Table Rockstars!

Morning Year 4!

We have set some year group battles on Times Table Rockstars. There are enough scheduled to last until July! We will be checking and announcing MVPs when we can!

If anyone has forgotten their log in details or has any problems, please email the year group email and we will do what we can.

Dance

I have had some children say they are really missing our cheerleading and gymnastics lessons! I do not feel comfortable setting work like that for home, so I have found some clips of dance from different cultures. If this is something that interests you, have a look and see if you can copy any of the routines! We would love to see photos or clips of you trying them out!

Maths and Literacy

We have found 2 useful booklets for maths and literacy. The literacy booklet covers an area of grammar for year 4: pronouns (included is a parent guide). The maths booklet covers multiplication and division (mostly time table knowledge) which children should be familiar with.

See what you can remember, guys!

Biscuit Parachutes!

Today, the year 3 and 4 children in school were set a challenge. They each had 1 digestive biscuit, 30cm string, 1 A4 piece of paper, 3 bits of sticky tape (10cm each) and some pritt stick. The task was to create a parachute for the biscuit which was dropped from 120cm without it breaking! These are the attempts and the results.

Can you do any better?

Reception to return to school from Monday 8th June

Dear All,

Please read the attached letter which will also be emailed to everyone today.

Please note that it is essential that we hear from every reception parent via email by 1pm on Tuesday 2nd June. Further details in the letter here Opening 8th June final

Many thanks.

Key worker children-essential to book your place please

Current key worker families: As more children are now coming in to school as key workers, it is essential that you book your child in with us. If you do not book them in, we may not be able to have them on that day due to numbers. Please email admin@stgeorgesschool.org.uk to let us know you childcare requirements for weeks beginning 1st and 8th June by tomorrow midday at the latest. Thank you.

New key worker families: If you are a key worker and your child is coming into school for the first time since lockdown, it is essential that you book a place for them by emailing admin@stgeorgesschool.org.uk. If you do not book them in, we may not be able to have them on that day due to numbers. We are asking for you to email your childcare requirements by midday tomorrow for weeks beginning 1st and 8th June. Thank you.

From Monday 1st June, we will be organising the classrooms a bit differently for key worker children in light of the new risk assessment we have done following national and local new guidance. This will include a one way system for dropping off and collecting your child. We will email all key worker parents tomorrow with a detailed plan once we have final numbers of children who will be coming into school. The full Risk Assessment will be added to the school website later today.

Please note, at this stage school is only open to key worker children and vulnerable children. As soon as we know more, we will let other groups/year groups know a start date.

Thank you for your patience.

Spelling shed!
