Wagamamas ??

Year 5 have had an amazing time at Wagamamas this week!

We took part in a chopsticks challenge where we got to try unusual foods such as Japanese pickle, we then prepared a meal called Mini Yasai Yaki Soba which we got to eat at the end and made fresh fruit juices which contained apples, pineapple, lime, cucumber and spinach.

What a fantastic end to our Design and Technology cooking and nutrition topic.

Printing Using a Polymer Tile

As part of our Iron Age Art topic, we have designed our own Triskelion and carved it into a polymer tile to then use to print repeated patterns on a page.

Mathsframe Website

https://mathsframe.co.uk/

We have recently purchased a subscription to a website called ‘Mathsframe’ where our children can log-in to access a wide range of games to play at home.

Your children will be bringing home the username and password soon that they will require to access all of the games that are available.

Mental Health Awareness Week ❤️😊

This week is World Mental Health Awareness Week ❤️

We were lucky enough to be part of a virtual assembly with ‘School of Kindness’.

We discussed what anxiety is and how kindness and anxiety are linked. We also practised breathing techniques and created a toolbox of strategies to help us if we feel anxious. There were over 50 schools involved and we really enjoyed taking part. 😊

Walk to School Week | Living Streets

This week at St George’s we will be promoting Walk to School Week.

This is a five-day walking challenge that begins on Monday 15th of May. It encourages children to travel actively to school every day of the week. This could be walking, cycling or scooting to school. If it is not possible to walk the distance, you could ‘park and stride,’ which means parking further than you normally would and walking the rest of the way.

During the week, the children will meet various animals and they’ll learn about the important reasons to walk and the difference it can make for individuals, communities and the planet! Each animal will educate the children on one of the following reasons: Inclusion, Sustainability, Health, Mindfulness and Friendship.

Good luck!

Cave Paintings 🐃
